Real answer: Get what looks good to you. Keep in mind that lighting and viewing distances can also make a huge difference. In my opinion, I would never trust Consumer Reports on an HDTV purchase, you should be looking for professional video/audio reviews. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do the CR stuff when it comes to home appliances but when it comes to the technicalities of HD I’ll go to video/audio pro’s. There’s just too much to learn.

32″ LCD – The 2 top brands, for BOTH performance and reliability, are Panasonic Viera and Sony Bravia. A little bit less expensive, but still good quality is Toshiba Regza followed, perhaps, by Sharp Aquos and Samsung. Stay away, far away, from the no-name and cheapo brands like Vizio, Polaroid, Insignia, Element, and Dynex.

Well – if this was my main TV, I would go for a Sony XBR series.
But for a guest room – occasional use, Sharp aqous, Samsung would be great for 20-30% cheaper.
