when i bought my tv i was told that i could use it as a monitor for my pc so i bought a VGA monitor extender (i believe it called)cable but when i hook it up it says invalid format. i have an LG HDTV model number 37lg50 can someone please help me out

Yeah, thats pretty common.
Sounds as though your screen resolution or refresh rate is set too high on your pc. To fix this, go into display properties and select settings and for now go to the lowest resolution(for example 640X480@60hz) and apply settings. Also, to change refresh rate try the advance button within the settings tab of the display properties and click on the tab that says monitor. Good luck.

You must plug the VGA cable into your RGB slot on the TV. Then on the TV it will be menu or input you must change the input to the correct plug on the rear. Like mine has component 1,2,3 or VGA/RGB or HDMI or 9 others for all the externals you might have plugged in. I have my PS3 in the HDMI and the DVD recorder into a HDMI slot but to play or watch I have to change input to the correct HDMI 1 or 2 to pick the correct programming. THanks
