i like to make my own movies, from clips or pics, once in a while i get downloaded ones, is there anyway i can play them on my Tv, like using a sd card or is there any special equipment i need?

I have a LG 37inch 1080p HDTV and the picture quality is awful, my old CRT tv picture quality was alot better, is this because my tv is now HD and i dont subsribe to HD channels?

When I turn on my TV the green light comes on waiting for the tv to come oon. After a minute, a orange light flashes(heat is the labeled on the TV)) on the left side then a red(temp is labeled) starts blinking from the right.

I’ve noticed a big difference or a delay on my HDTV when playing MLB 09, but on standard def there is no delay. I have good HDMI cables and my TV is fine, does anyone know of any settings I can tweak?
